CapeNature and Wesgro join forces for insightful Filming Webinar
CapeNature in collaboration with Wesgro, will host a webinar focused on the many CapeNature filming locations in the Western Cape, on Wednesday, 14 July 2021 at 18h00. The webinar will take viewers on a virtual journey, showcasing a number of the filming destinations around the Western Cape, also touching on lesser-known location gems amidst the beauty of nature.
In addition to the use of new filming technologies in protected natural areas, the webinar will also delve into a wide range of topics ranging from sustainability in the film industry, investment opportunities in the local film sector, drone filming and how to book a CapeNature location. Webinar panellists, including Cindy Mkhwanazi, the Manager of Green Set (a film industry NPO), Rudi Riek, the CEO of Film Industry Visa Assistance (FIVA) and Shawn Ogulu, a Content Creator and Drone Pilot, will provide insight into the filming industry. CapeNature will unpack its very own idyllic nature filming sites, with talks by filming service provider, Jackie Tranmere and Marketing and Promotions Manager: Loren Pavitt. Concluding the line-up will be international Master of Ceremonies and Entrepreneur, Joanne Strauss.
“Using film to cross sell the destination as an ideal place to visit is a powerful tool for marketing Cape Town and the Western Cape. Showcasing our abundance of wide-open spaces not only provides unlimited potential for supporting a variety of script scenes, but also creates an allure for interested travellers to ‘experience for themselves the places showcased in the film narrative. We look forward to hearing from local industry experts share their experience across a wide range of topics from sustainability, to drone piloting,” comments Yaw Peprah, Acting CEO.
What makes a destination ideal in the tourism sense? For some, a great film is often based on its ability to transport you from your seat into the scene. Choosing the right location for your project is critical in transferring your message. The use of the ideal location could make all the difference in reaching your audience effectively whilst generating revenue. The webinar will provide helpful hints on how to maximise your budget through a breadth and depth of locations at your disposal in the Western Cape.
“Despite the challenges the filming industry faced since March 2020 with an ever-evolving pandemic, it remains vital to contribute towards the economy. The Western Cape is home to many economic opportunities, filming being one of them. Video has become an even more important and powerful medium, as it can easily replace in-person events and knowledge transfer. I encourage anyone that has a role to play in this space to tune in as we share insightful knowledge pertaining to the filming industry”, added CapeNature Executive Director: Eco-tourism and Access, Sheraaz Ismail.
