CapeNature and the Rocklands partners have just kicked off their world-renowned winter bouldering season at Cederberg Wilderness. Every year, both seasoned and novice climbers flock to the Rocklands to test their skills on more than 1500 invigorating developed ‘problems’. If bouldering is not for you, Cederberg offers an incredible array of alternative fun activities such as hiking and walking, sports climbing, mountain biking, and exploring some fascinating historical rock art. After a long day of winter fun with family and friends, warm up and relax those worked muscles in the wood-fired hot tubs at the Garskraal and Rietdak cottages – and the Jacuzzis at Vrolijkheid Nature Reserve in Robertson. Goukamma Nature Reserve is jampacked with coastal, forest, and freshwater fun. Situated on the Garden Route between Sedgefield and Knysna, Goukamma displays an epic variety of activities including kayaking and canoeing, angling, bird watching, picnicking, whale watching, horse riding, and hiking. June to December is also the best time to see dolphins. Ideally located near the reserve offices yet fully surrounded by nature, the Buffalo Valley Lodges can cater for groups of up to 6 people. The three lodges are all out of sight and sound of each other with complete privacy, providing each with its own unique environment within the 150-hectare conservation area. Each lodge offers safe seclusion where fireplaces and sundecks ensure year-round comfort.
